Author, speaker, and radio host, Peter W. Rosenberger is the president of Standing With Hope. Under his leadership, Standing With Hope continues to break new ground in providing quality limbs to underserved amputees abroad. From the one-of-a-kind partnership with inmates in a Tennessee correctional facility who help recycle used prosthetic limbs – to utilizing real-time video feed to treat patients and train technicians in Africa, Peter continues to infuse Standing With Hope with his innovative and creative skills.
Simultaneously, Peter continues providing leadership to his family as they navigate through a $9,000,000 medical catastrophe that has included 78 surgeries, multiple amputations, 60 doctors, 12 hospitals, and 7 insurance companies over the past 27 years.
Serving as my wife’s caregiver “… since the cold war,” has required me to juggle career, finances, family, and massive stack of medical bills. Along the way, I’ve learned practical steps that maintain emotional, physical, and financial sanity while building closer family ties – and even keeping a sense of humor.
With a “PhD in caregiving from the school of hard knocks,” Peter is turning his trial into a trail for others to follow. In his newest book, Wear Comfortable Shoes – Surviving and Thriving as a Caregiver, he offers leadership, the voice of experience, and easy steps that enable caregivers to adjust their burdens – while improving their abilities attend to the needs of someone they love.
Recognizing and addressing the critical issue of medical insurance for today’s chronically ill, Wear Comfortable Shoes also speaks directly to the heart of a caregiver by offering assurance and the calming voice of “one who has been there, still there, and thriving in it.”
From the set of the Today show to a local Sunday school class, Peter has inspired, entertained and equipped audiences from all walks of life to manage their challenges a bit easier – and even laugh a bit more during difficult times.
